
Anti-snoring device
Single arch oral appliance for diagnosed snoring and obstructive snoring and sleep apnoea.
On request from a specialist, the provision and appropriate dental supervision of a removable single arch oral appliance to assist in the treatment of assessed snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea disorders. Reference should be made to the report published by the American Academy of sleep Medicine entitled “Practice Parameters for the treatment of snoring and obstructive Sleep Apnoea with oral appliances: An Update for 2005” as endorsed by the Australian Dental Association Inc.
Concentrated fluoride application
Concentrated remineralizing and/or cariostastic agents, application – single tooth
A procedure to promote caries resistance in a specific situation, involving isolation and control of the target area and prolonged application of a concentrated fluoride or remineralizing and/or cariostastic agent. The includes necessary activation of the agent. Not to be used with restorative item numbers.
Consultations
A consultation to seek advice or discuss treatment options regarding a specific dental or oral condition. This consultation includes recording an appropriate medical history and any other relevant information. Consultation by referral – extended (30 minutes or more)
An extended consultation with a patient referred by a dental or medical practitioner for an opinion or management of a specific dental disorder. The consultation may not necessarily be with specialist. The referring practitioner should be provided with a report from the consultant, included within the item number.
Periodontal, non-surgical
An alternative system of coding encompassing all visit subsequent to periodontal diagnosis and treatment planning for the non-surgical phase of periodontal treatment. This item includes all forms of non-surgical treatment and precludes reference to other periodontal techniques or services in the schedule. Non-periodontal related procedures should be separately itemized. An assessment and treatment form to be used with this item may be requested in advance of treatment. Continuation of periodontal treatment or maintenance subsequent to item 281
Maintenance subsequent to item 281 for non-surgical periodontal treatment. Radiographs, periodontal charting and other diagnostic procedures, and non-periodontal related procedures should be separately itemized.
